Stamford—Historic Market Town

We can arrange a walking tour of Stamford, lasting about an hour. Described as one of the finest stone towns in England, Stamford’s attractive streets have been seen in such productions as “Middlemarch” and “Pride and Prejudice”. It is always a pleasure to stroll round the narrow streets and alleyways and this tour will add to your enjoyment of what Stamford has to offer. Nearby is Burghley House, one of the grandest houses of Elizabethan England.

Originally an island in the Fens, Thorney’s long history includes the Monastery, the draining of the Fens, a Model Village and its connection with the Dukes of Bedford.
